Seagate released its flagship product, Green Barracuda hard drives. 3.5-inch desktop drive is claimed to be environmentally friendly and suitable for use in low-power computer.
Green Barracuda hard drive originally known as the Barracuda LP. This product combines 5900 RPM rotational speed plus buried SmartAlign technology from Seagate in order to maintain performance.
This product also supports Seagate Think Green program to create a world that is equipped with environmentally friendly devices. The reason, more than 70 percent of the material used this tool can be recycled.
In addition, storage media offered in capacities of 2 TB, 1.5 TB and 1 TB uses halogen components are low in order to reduce negative environmental impacts of these substances.
"This is important because now the industry is experiencing a transition to a 4K sector format called the Advanced Format to increase capacity and maintain a strong correction of mistakes," said BanSeng Tea, vice president and managing director of Seagate Asia Pacific and Japan.
"However the transition to the Advanced format without SmartAlign technology can be complicated and require additional integration steps and software utilities to avoid a decline in performance," he added, in his statement on Tuesday
